Essentials App

Cookie consent banner, back-to-top button, and YouTube video block — auto-installed on every store.

Essentials is the small-but-useful app that comes with every Storra store. It contributes three things every storefront eventually wants: a cookie consent banner, a back-to-top button, and a YouTube video block you can drop into any section. You don't install it — Storra adds it automatically when your store is created.

What Essentials provides

A banner that appears on first visit asking the visitor to accept or decline cookies. Required for GDPR compliance in the EU and UK, and a good practice everywhere. The banner remembers the visitor's choice — they only see it once.

Configure the message text, button labels, and position from the Essentials app detail page.

Back-to-top button

A small floating button that appears in the bottom corner once the visitor has scrolled down. Clicking it smoothly scrolls back to the top of the page. Particularly useful on long category pages and product pages with lots of content below the fold.

Toggle on/off and pick a corner from the app detail page.

YouTube video block

A block type you can drop inside any section that supports blocks — paste a YouTube URL and the storefront embeds the video. Useful in hero sections (a trailer above the fold), FAQ-with-video sections, or product pages where a video sells the package.

The block exposes settings for the video URL, autoplay, and showing related videos.

Configuring Essentials

Go to Apps and click Essentials. From the detail page:

  • Toggle individual contributions on or off independently — keep the cookie banner but turn off back-to-top, for example.
  • Edit the cookie banner's message text and button labels.
  • Pick where the back-to-top button appears (left or right, top or bottom of the corner area).

FAQ

Can I uninstall Essentials?

Essentials is auto-installed on every store and isn't designed to be removed — you'd lose features that most storefronts assume are always there. If you want to disable specific contributions, toggle them off individually in the app detail page.

The banner remembers consent in a browser cookie. If it's reappearing for the same visitor every time, their browser is blocking cookies (incognito mode, strict privacy extensions). Visitors with cookies blocked will see the banner each session — that's expected behavior.

The colors and typography follow your theme automatically. For deeper customization (custom positioning, animations, branded buttons), edit the embed's CSS in the code editor.
